This October 2021, we have major news from Latin America. We have inaugurated our first photovoltaic plant in Colombia.

We have ended this month with great news. So, let us begin with a summary of the news from October 2021:

Internal news October 2021

This month, we inaugurated our first photovoltaic plant in Colombia. Located in the north of the country, it has an installed capacity of 5.6 MWp. Its generation capacity is 11.3 GWh. In addition, it has 2 substations, 26 inverters and a single-axis tracker structure that makes it possible to increase the annual energy generated by the photovoltaic plant by up to 20%. You can find out more about this project here.

We also have news about our latest projects in Spain. From Torremocha, Cáceres, our La Pizarra photovoltaic plant is close to completion. La Pizarra will connect 9,799.68 kWp to the grid and is estimated to produce an annual average of 19,785 MWh. Finally, construction of the Pitarco solar park is about to begin. This new solar plant will be located on a site of more than 100 hectares in the town of Muel, Zaragoza.

External news

We continue with news on innovation and space. Future space missions are expected to use deployable solar panels. These will supply energy to facilities and spacecraft efficiently and cost-effectively. This technology has been developed at Sandia National Laboratories in the United States. It is currently in space, having recently been launched aboard a small satellite. We hope it will soon reach the lunar surface and begin its operations

In Argentina, according to the report "Renewable Energy in Argentina. Challenges and opportunities in the context of the global energy transition", the energy transformation will enable economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection, thereby helping to meet the sustainable goals of the 2030 Agenda. This transition is of vital importance, as in developing countries, per capita GHG emissions are higher than the average in the G20 countries.

Lastly, the LIFE Unify project report prepared by SEO/BirdLife, the Spanish strategy correctly identifies the priorities of each sector when it comes to decarbonising and absorbing CO2. It is estimated that emissions could be reduced by 90% by 2050.
