This July 2021 comes packed with news. We are becoming increasingly active on LinkedIn, and we are very proud to see that progress. As we do not want to overwhelm you with so much information, we are going to provide a summary.

This July 2021, we have had a series of events and internal news stories with our colleagues. First of all, our colleagues in Development took part in the webinar: Access and connection to the transmission grid, organised by Red Eléctrica, Spain. It covered the procedure for generation access and connection applications through REE's new online platform. We also ran a poll so that everyone could guess what the next step for Enerland.

Externally, there has been a great deal of news in the sector. Our country has positioned itself as one of the most competitive countries in terms of solar energy installation. In particular, it has managed to surpass China, making us a prime location for installing solar panels at the best prices. Our colleague, José Alfambra, Area Manager at Enerland Group shares his view with us. “Spain is one of the most attractive countries for investment in renewables. The maturity of the market, the alignment among the main players and the experience of its companies make it possible for the country to be the most competitive in Europe and one of the largest in the world for photovoltaic installation.”

Lastly, on 13 July, the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, approved the Energy Transition Law. This makes it possible to promote renewable energy from non-conventional sources so that it can be incorporated into the country's generation mix. These would include blue hydrogen, green hydrogen and geothermal energy.

Sector reports

The UNEF Spanish Photovoltaic Union published its 2021 Annual Report, entitled “Solar photovoltaic energy, an opportunity for sustainability”, with the results of the photovoltaic sector in 2020 at international, European and national level.” SolarPower Europe also published its own study, the “Global Market Outlook 2021-2025”, which sets out the results of the photovoltaic sector worldwide.

It is gratifying to know that the countries in which we operate continue to progress year after year in the solar energy sector. Being in a ranking, or not, is not a competition. It reflects our commitment to changing the way we live and caring for the planet we live on.
