This January 2022, we began the year with major news. This time, Enerland is unveiling four new photovoltaic plants in El Salvador.

Over the past year, we have not stopped growing. Our workforce has almost doubled in size and the number of projects in our portfolio keeps increasing. That is why we ended the month and began the year by announcing our four new projects in El Salvador. We are also sharing a summary of the January 2022 news that accompanied this announcement:

Internal news January 2022

Enerland Group will be responsible for the execution of four new photovoltaic plants in El Salvador. These projects will represent an investment of more than USD 30 million and will create approximately 200 direct and indirect jobs. With a total capacity of 38.2 MW, the new solar plants will generate an average of 87,000 MWh of energy annually.

Our team is also continuing to grow. We would like to introduce our EPC Construction Director, José Ignacio del Barrio. From now on, he will be responsible for overseeing all the processes our photovoltaic plants go through until they are commissioned.

Specialists from Russian Space Systems (RKS) are developing a solar power plant in space (SKES), with the aim of guaranteeing a regular supply of alternative electricity to hard-to-reach regions of the Earth. It can also transfer power to other spacecraft in orbit and help in emergency situations. Projects like these often make us wonder whether the idea of having solar plants in space is really possible or whether it is only possible in films, where every invention becomes reality. In any case, at Enerland we are committed to innovation and progress. We cannot wait for the day it is launched into space.

In Spain, specifically at the Autonomous University of Madrid, a dedicated chair has been created for the study and conservation of agro-steppe systems. At Enerland Group, we welcome this initiative and the efforts of all researchers to generate knowledge on preserving biodiversity in solar installations.

Finally, in El Salvador, a framework agreement was signed with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), which will enable both parties to work together to drive decarbonisation. Thanks to this cooperation, national plans to promote financing for clean energy projects are expected to accelerate.
