Last week, our colleague Raquel Freitas attended the event «Portugal Renewable Energy Summit 2021». The event, organised by APREN – “Associação Portuguesa de Energías Renováveis”, took place on 9 and 10 November in Lisbon, in Culturgest's «Grande Auditório».

The attendance format for the Portugal Renewable Energy Summit 2021 was hybrid. Adapting to the current situation, this format allowed those who could not attend in person to take part online. The event brought together more than 50 professionals from both national and international spheres for discussion at the round tables over the two days. In addition, the Minister for the Environment and Climate Action, João Pedro Matos Fernandes, and the Under-Secretary of State for Energy, João Galamba, were part of the audience attending the event.

Our colleague, Raquel Freitas, from the engineering department of Enerland Group Portugal, attended the event as part of the audience representing the company. “It has been a privilege to take part and represent Enerland at this event. There, I was able to gain an overall view of the position of Portugal and Europe in terms of renewable energy. It was also interesting to learn about the challenges we still need to face in order to achieve the Fit for 55 Goals and how we can work to meet them. It was impressive to witness how more than fifty specialists came together with government organisations and major market players with one objective: to position Portugal as an example in renewable energy, decarbonisation, hydrogen production and self-consumption systems”.

It is a pleasure to have been able to attend this event, which began by analysing the objectives of Fit for 55. Afterwards, Portugal's current situation in the energy sector was examined. Finally, the goal of reaching the country's 2.5 GW of green hydrogen was set.

Our company currently has more than 35 MW of photovoltaic energy under development in Portugal. For this reason, we hold meetings such as the one last week and consider them key to gaining a deeper understanding of the needs of current and future projects.
