We launched the 2nd charity campaign, ‘for a future without hunger’, in support of SDG 2: Zero Hunger.
On 16 October, we launched the 2nd solidarity campaign for “A future without hunger” in collaboration with the Zaragoza Food Bank. This campaign began last year, taking advantage of World Food Day, as the first initiative in support of SDG 2 of the United Nations Global Compact.
In Zaragoza, Spain, there are almost 12,000 Aragonese families receiving a social allowance, but organisations criticise the fact that many groups are left out. In addition, with rising food prices, many organisations have seen physical donations decline. Although financial donations have increased, so too has the number of people needing help.
In May, the Zaragoza Food Bank experienced its worst period, with reserves 15% lower. The foods in shortest supply included cocoa, rice, tinned fish and baby food. Its goal is to receive around 500,000 kilos of food, a target it has not yet managed to reach.
In the previous edition, the participation of colleagues from our headquarters in Zaragoza made the donation a real success. For this reason, this year we once again decided to keep the charity campaign running for three weeks. During this time, more than 80 kg of food and 560 FFP2 masks were collected for delivery to our charity partner, the Zaragoza Food Bank. We are certain they will help many people in need.
Our stated objective is to repeat the campaign every year. In doing so, we reaffirm our commitment to and awareness of the goals of reducing inequality and supporting people in vulnerable situations in the Aragonese capital.
At Enerland, we remain committed to a better world, to a ‘future without hunger’.
