We began the construction of the new solar parks in El Salvador.
A few months ago, we announced the first connection of a photovoltaic plant ground-mounted in El Salvador. Today, in line with the established schedule, we are celebrating the start of construction of Enerland's new solar parks in El Salvador.
The company has been awarded six projects to develop and build in the Central American country. After completing the first photovoltaic plant, in March of that same year, we continued with the execution of the remaining projects.
The two new PVGen and Grupo Roca plants, awarded through the CAESS-CLP-RNV-001-2013 tender are located in the province of Zacatecoluca in the department of La Paz. They will connect 2.8 MW of power to the electricity grid and are expected to become operational in the middle of this year. In addition, these ground-mounted facilities will feature photovoltaic module structures with single-axis trackers and will generate an average of more than 6,300 MWh of energy. Thanks to these structures, we will improve solar radiation capture and achieve higher performance from the photovoltaic solar plant.
Furthermore, for the execution of both the PVGen project and the Grupo Roca project, contracts have been signed under the turnkey model, also known as EPC.
Enerland is growing at a good pace
Less than a year ago, Enerland began operating in the Central American country through its subsidiary. During this time, the company has grown at a good pace. So much so that by the end of 2015, the 6 projects awarded to us in the country are expected to be operational. At the same time, we continue our expansion across the continent. With these projects, there will now be 9 plants completed in the Americas.
Although at present we are only operating in Mexico and El Salvador, we continue to assess the potential of the other countries in order to pursue our expansion plan.
