We continue to grow. We are announcing our further expansion in Argentina thanks to the award of the San Martín project.

More than a decade ago, we enthusiastically began our journey across the Americas. The continent's solar potential has led us to work in Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Colombia. Today, through the Renovar Mini/Round 3 Programme, we have been awarded a new solar project. For that reason, we are especially pleased to announce our new expansion into Argentina.

The San Martín Project, located in the province of Mendoza, Argentina, will become our first solar project in South America. With it, we will have 15 solar parks on the continent. San Martín will generate 13.6 MWp, and its commissioning is expected to begin at the end of 2022.

Argentina backs renewables

For some time now, Argentina has been aware of the need for a new energy model. Its objective: for renewable energies represent 20% of electricity by 2025. To achieve this goal, the Argentine Government committed itself and passed specific laws aimed at speeding up processes. However, the territory's own topography has hindered the development of these energy sources in recent years.

At present, electricity generation figures from renewable sources such as the sun are expected to increase significantly during 2020 and 2021.

In addition, according to projections for 2030, Argentina aims to triple its renewable capacity. With such stable and continuous growth, it is expected to reach to reach 16% of total self-consumed electrical energy. A figure that has been set to be achieved before 31 December 2021.

Together with the rest of our projects in the Americas, whether they have already been completed or are still under development, the new expansion in Argentina will contribute to meeting the SDGs established by the UN. These initiatives will benefit not only the economy of its citizens, but also the environment.

We are looking forward to seeing our first project in Argentina!
