This February 2022 has been full of news about forecasts and trends in the energy sector. In addition, internally, we welcomed new additions to the Development Department.

Enerland has welcomed two new additions to the Development and Environment Department. Firstly, Carlos Samper, an engineer, who will provide support in the design and planning of photovoltaic generation plants. Secondly, in the Environmental Area, Javier Franco, a cartographer. He will be responsible for preparing cartographic and descriptive documentation for processing permits and authorisations in environmental matters, among other duties. Now let us move on to the latest news from February 2022:

It has become customary for annual forecasts to be made across every field and sector. That is why those relating to the energy sector are always of great interest, especially renewables. With that in mind, we have compiled predictions on the future of solar PV installations worldwide in 2022:

  • More than 200 GW of solar energy will be installed
  • At the end of 2021, module prices rose. This was due to strong demand. This time, they are expected to fall again as production increases, easing the supply crisis.
  • Installed solar energy and storage capacity will double. The largest markets will be China and the United States
  • Solar manufacturing capacity will continue to grow. In addition, solar factories will be announced in countries outside China

Meanwhile, Spain has comfortably exceeded the targets set for 2030. This will mean faster decarbonisation, lower electricity prices and being one step closer to energy independence.
