Last week the event “Good environmental practices in wind and photovoltaic farms in Aragon”, organised by CLENAR, took place, and our environmental team attended to address the impact of renewables in our country.

On Wednesday, 13 March, CLENAR organised a event that brought together sector professionals to address issues relating to solutions and technologies for minimising the impacts caused by renewables, as well as their positive impact. This event featured the participation of prominent figures such as Jesús Alijarde, President of the Sustainability and Environment Committee of the Aragón Energy Cluster - Clenar, and Avelina Bellostas Ara, President of the Sustainability and Circular Economy Committee of CEOE Aragón, among many others.

Daisy Rodríguez, head of the environmental area at Enerland Group, and Javier Franco, department technician, attended as company representatives. “This event organised by CLENAR was a great opportunity to share with the different stakeholders in the renewable sector in Aragon the actions we take to ensure our plants are as environmentally friendly as possible and even enhance biodiversity in their surroundings. By listening to the speakers’ presentations, we also confirmed Enerland’s good work in this field, since our plants always implement the best environmental measures to prevent, correct and offset any associated impacts,” Javier added.

Enerland Group's environmental best practices

The very nature of the company's economic activity already entails a full commitment to the principles of sustainability and the circular economy; however, the aim is to go one step further. From the environmental department, a series of measures and actions have always been taken to reduce the carbon footprint and any potential impacts during the works. Here are some of the good practices that have been implemented so far:

  • Biodiversity conservation measures at solar parks: the installation of game fencing that includes wildlife crossings to allow species to move through the area and anti-collision plates, the use of sheep to remove weeds between the panels, dry cleaning of photovoltaic modules...
  • Revegetation and landscape integration: All our photovoltaic plants include a perimeter vegetation screen with a width ranging from 5 to 8 metres to ensure the project elements blend into the landscape, while also serving as a refuge and corridor for wildlife
