We attended the event organised by UNEF, “Development of solar plants under environmental excellence criteria”, in Toledo, Spain.

Today, 22 February, with Daisy Rodríguez representing Enerland, we attended the event organised by UNEF and the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha: "Development of solar plants under environmental excellence criteria". Our colleague Daisy, Head of the Environment Department, travelled to Toledo to attend the debate on sustainability and environmental excellence criteria in the development of photovoltaic plants.

Speakers from different companies in the sector took part in the meeting. They were joined, among others, by institutional representatives from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge and the Spanish Association for Environmental Impact Assessment.

Enerland at the event

Our colleague reflects on her attendance at the event:

"I attended this event with great interest. It has been an absolute success, as shown by the excellent reception and the large turnout of the main developers, stakeholders and associations in the national photovoltaic sector.

At Enerland, we are absolutely clear about this: the key to success and differentiation lies in designing high-quality, excellent projects supported by a sound environmental impact assessment drafted with the appropriate level of detail to ensure the area's carrying capacity while respecting the natural and cultural values of each location.

Another challenge also arises when social criteria are incorporated into project permitting. It is a mistake to think that we have a "social licence" simply because we are part of the renewable sector. Dialogue, participation and collaboration with local councils, associations and interested stakeholders are essential to achieve projects that are environmentally and socially sustainable.

We are aware of the challenge we face: arduous, difficult and slow. But Management's commitment is firm and genuine; our projects incorporate environmental, social and governance criteria, always seeking excellence and added value.

Sustainable solar plants

In conclusion, we will remain true to our sustainable commitment learning every day. Knowing the latest developments and innovations in environmental terms and applying them to all our projects is the key to our success.

We hope to continue attending events like these where industry experts debate and contribute their most advanced knowledge on the current state of the photovoltaic sector in terms of sustainability.
